This isn’t the Wright Brothers’ aircraft that you probably know. That would be the powered one from 1903, captured in the famous photograph of “First Flight.” This is the 1902 Glider, which, interestingly, Orville and Wilbur thought of as their greatest accomplishment. It was with the Glider that they learned to control flight; adding the motor just made flight sustainable. It was still pretty cool that the brothers scratch-built their own engine in 1903.
