“Wildland Fires”
National Geographic
Color Pencil on Film
2018
14.75” x 20” (Framed 20” x 25”)

I used to think of scary wildfires as something that happened only in the forest. I learned the really dangerous wildland fires are located in more open scrubby terrain. Clients like National Geographic provide illustration assignments that are always a fascinating education. This image took about two weeks to draw, but at least two to three weeks of constant research.
